This Giulia SS rolled off the production line on the 30th of October 1963 and was subsequently delivered to the supplying dealer on the 6th of November 1963 in Paris. It was first registered to its initial owner on the 8th of December 1963 - just in time for Christmas! According to the accompanying Certificato Di Origine, this Giulia SS was originally specified in the spectacular shade of Bianco over the lesser-seen Blu hide - exactly the specification the car is presented in today. The car has remained in France throughout its entire life, passing through the hands of a handful of owners from the vicinity of Paris to eventually end up in Nouvelles-Aquitaine, before it was acquired by the current Dutch custodian in 2018.
The car is believed to have remained in total unrestored condition up until around 2010, where it underwent a complete, well-documented restoration in France. Images of the car's state prior to restoration are present in the history file. However, although the current Dutch custodian bought it in a "fully restored" state (and for an equal price), after a little while of ownership he found that the car just didn't live up to his descerning standards that he holds for all his cars. Especially the body restoration was reportedly sub-standard. This meant there was no other option than to bring the car to marque experts and undertake a full bare-metal, no-expense spared restoration of about three years in 2019. Evidently, no stone was left unturned with the entire car being brought up to concours standard, also re-doing the technical aspects of the car to the same high quality. All images of this, as well as the "initial" French restoration, are on file and available upon request. It goes without saying that undertaking a restoration after having purchased a car in "restored" form is an economically unviable endeavour. However the gentlemen in question was adament to stick to his "best or nothing" approach - which shows in the shape the car is presented in today. Nothing short of marvelous.
Today the car has covered a mere 1.000 km's since restoration (typically the post restoration snagging km's) and presents in nothing short of immaculate condition throughout. Due to the vastness of the owners' collection, the Giulia just does not get used enough which has brought the client to the painful decision to pass it onto a new owner and entrust us with the handling of its sale.Today the Giulia SS is complete with all accessories including the jack, spare wheel as well as the original French owners manual (!).
A dedicated history file containing numerous invoices and restoration imagery is present as well. Currently the SS is Dutch registered under "DZ-87-84" and can be supplied with correct Dutch export documents to be registered anywhere in the world with ease. It is located in a descrete and remote location in the direct vicinity of Maastricht, where it stands ready for inspection immediately.
Bite-Size:This is probably the best Giulia Sprint Speciale currently for sale anywhere. A real do-it-all car: on the button for tasteful weekend getaways, elegible for the foremost events and with its recent restoration quality - also ready for the concours lawn!
